Privacy
Your data stays yours.
Last updated July 18, 2026. Applies to dot 2.0 on the Chrome Web Store.
Overview
dot is local-first. Primers, focus blocks, and preferences stay on your device. No account. We do not upload your ritual or session data.
What we don't collect
- Account or personal profile
- Browsing history
- Page content from sites you visit
- Advertising cookies or trackers
- Automatic usage analytics in the current store version
What stays on your device
Using Chrome’s local storage, dot may keep:
- Primer mode preference (Focus or Read)
- Active focus-block timer state (when you start a block)
- Local completion counts used only on this device
- Whether you’ve dismissed optional in-product prompts (feedback / rate)
This data does not leave your machine as part of normal use.
Permissions
- storage — local settings and session state
- activeTab / host access — floating sidebar and focus-block widget on the page you’re working in
- alarms — keep the focus-block countdown accurate while the extension service worker sleeps
Optional product feedback
If you choose Feedback in the extension, you’re taken to this site’s feedback page. Submissions are voluntary. Answers you send are emailed to hello@dotprimer.com through a form relay (FormSubmit) so we can read them. We do not attach an install ID or account to that form. Don’t include anything you wouldn’t put in an email.
Chrome Web Store
If you open Rate and leave a review, that interaction is with Google’s Chrome Web Store, under Google’s policies — not processed as ritual data by dot.
Third-party services
The store build does not send automatic analytics. The only third-party involved in optional feedback is FormSubmit, which relays the form you submit to hello@dotprimer.com.
Changes
We'll update this policy if our practices change. The date above reflects the latest version.
